Battlefield 6 Players Agree: Missions Are Way Too Hard

The release of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 garnered widespread acclaim, particularly for its premier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, simultaneous player numbers peaked at nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, a growing number of players are expressing frustration over several of the title's most difficult challenges, which are mandatory to obtain particular firearms.

Users have commenced using tailored sessions made via the custom game tool to complete them, emphasizing just how grueling these challenges have become.

Grasping Battlefield 6 Objectives

Assignments are Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, different from the periodically changed day-to-day and weekly tasks. It features four categories of assignments, but while the majority merely grant cosmetics and some tools, finishing the gun missions is the exclusive means of obtaining twelve from the forty-one primary weapons present in the game.

Several of these gated guns could shortly find their way on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash on Reddit

On Reddit, players are understandably voicing their concerns about how challenging and repetitive several of these challenges are. One user pointed out one of the most extreme examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This challenge is so terrible and completely out of mind, I want to scream in frustration," is a quote that summarizes just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

The suppression feature in the game is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it had in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.

At the same time, using an LMG from the hip is wildly inaccurate and only works at extremely close range, which isn't typically where you want to be. The same user also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that challenge would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Ridiculously Tough Challenge

One more community participant highlighted a further incredibly demanding challenge, within the sniper rifle category to obtain the PSR:

  • Achieve 150 headshot eliminations over 200m with marksman guns

This is tough enough by itself, but there's another important point to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at that kind of range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but given there are merely nine maps in the game currently, it implies you must stick to playing New Sobek City, Mirak Valley, and maybe a classic map in a best-case scenario if you want to snipe from over 200m away.

The Bypass

Nevertheless, a method exists: Battlefield Portal. The Battlefield Portal is a tool that allows you to make custom game modes on the battleground of your choice, featuring computer-controlled players. This implies you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the developer's vision.

However, when completing the missions in a proper game seems counterproductive, since you must engage in such an atypical style that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can fault a player for grinding them out in a personal session so teammates aren't hindered?

Upcoming Tweaks

It is expected if several of these tasks are toned down in the next few updates, because unless they are modified, a portion of the user base simply will never acquire the gated weapons.

At the moment, the community continues to share their thoughts on these challenging battlefield assignments, expecting a less arduous overall gameplay in future updates.
