Exploring an Unusual Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Turdy Character with the Goal to Find the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and players have discovered numerous entertaining creations from small studios. However, one catches the eye for its offbeat concept. Titled Unko Technica, this old-school styled jumping adventure lets you play a hero that is literally a turd striving to make its way to a toilet. As a fun fact, "Unko" translates to "poop."
How you interact is simple: press a single jump button. Throughout 150 challenges, battle mini-bosses and access a store to buy skins for your dung hero.
Time your movements with caution, since one wrong move means restarting the level. Bounce using bubbles to propel your character higher, cross crumbling ledges, and interact with switches to reveal hidden paths. Earn coins and use them on more difficult game content in which gameplay intensifies.
Visually, the demo shows off vibrant stages and catchy background music. The retro visual style with moving basic polygons could recall gamers of classic titles like Earthbound.
Although difficult to name previous releases where you play as a dung character, interactive entertainment frequently included fecal matter. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players make grenades from protagonist droppings. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ dung as plant food. And of course, such content is present heavily in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.
Despite its humorous premise, Unko Technica has already received significant accolades, such as winning at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. The demo is ready currently on Steam, with the final release set to launch on computers in the fall.
